Donald Cameron, W2KZ, SK

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of our dear friend, Don, W2KZ. Don had been suffering from a long time illness and had been unable to attend our monthly meetings. Don was one of the founding members of WNYDXA and had been very active in Amateur Radio all of his life.

Don started out way back when in his early teenage years. One of his earlier transmitters was the Heathkit AT1K and he eventually moved up to an S line by Collins Radio thru the TS 940 and finally with an FT 5000. He is fondly remembered by his old call WA2DSC...Delta Sierra Charlie...Don acheived 5 Band DXCC in the days before the WARC bands. He was a member of the Honor Roll and his booming signal was heard with his Alpha and a full sized 3 element quad up at 50 feet.

In his work life Don was a Gas Engineer at Linde Air and then at PraxAir. He worked stateside here in Tonawanda, NY  and had many tours overseas. He is survived by his three daughters Geniene,  Laura,  Joanne, and previous wife Marlene.

A Memorial Service will be held in January 2020.
